Unlike my Asuna of SAO cosplay that I created over a span of about 3 months, my Rey of Star Wars “The Force Awakens” took me a mere two nights to create! A hot glue gun and velcro are your best friend at times like these.
As you know, it was May the 4th #StarWarsDay a few weeks ago, and the software company where I work decided to celebrate it on the Friday, even though May the 4th was on the Wednesday. I created my Rey cosplay on May the 4th – very fitting for Star Wars day! Hubby was in Pretoria that night, so I had a lot of time to myself, which is why I decided to to go to the fabric store to get some supplies and get lost in the world of DIY.
This is also the first time I dyed my fabric, and I used a very easy at-home method – tea! It worked like a bomb and my bandage fabric took to it so well. When doing a Rey cosplay, it’s important to pick fabrics that have a somewhat dirty look, and I dirtied mine up by using an eye-shadow palette.
